I'm sure they serve a purpose in our great ecosystem, but why are there so many? What other point do they serve rather than being pesky pests?!
I see you. You are in my food, resting on my coffee cup, jumping off my head, in my room, you are every where! I know your life is short and you are making the most of it by annoying everything and everyone around you. You are hungry. Go land on someone else's food. Bother someone else.
Flies exist everywhere, yes in Nicaragua too!
There is a point here.
What other things "bug" you?!
How do you cope with these "bugs"?
We all cope with things that bother us differently. Living in a different country we have to reassess how we cope in various situations. We may have to respond or react differently to situations abroad than we do in America. A basic example: Americans are known to become outraged in a restaurant setting if there is something wrong with their food or when customer service quality is lacking. Sitting in a "comedor" in Nicaragua, you learn to ignore the flies, accept the cultural difference in customer service, ignore the crawling ants near your plate, and you finish your "refresco" drink that may have extra pulp, seeds, or two spoon fulls of sugar too many. You pay the standard price without arguing that you should receive your food for free and you leave with a smile saying "gracias por la comida, adios"! Now you may not go back to this "comedor" unless it's the only one in town...then you get to learn the value of patience !
The changes we are making here we will bring back to the states and share with the people that it simply is not worth it. To get upset, that is, over something minuscule. Why bother wasting your energy? Instead, breathe, think about how you can approach your situation without blowing the gasket. You'll live a happier life, I promise. You'll keep those grey hairs hidden too, unless you are bald, then you'll keep those bulging veins on the side of your head from showing.
Unless you can prove to me why we need so many disease carrying flies, save your pressure building volcanic tantrum for something else, have someone record it on video, and post it on-line so you and the rest of the world can laugh at how silly and childish you look for the way you reacted, for what ? What purpose?
Nothing.
Relax, smile, then laugh!

Well said my friend!
ReplyDeleteSo true. Its amazing what living in a different setting will do for your resilience and character. Everyone should travel somewhere new and different at least once a year to not lose that perspective. Be well, my fellow AC traveler! -Kristen
